Hi there, it is Pembe Panzer. A persona and a war machina. Pembe means Pink; pink is the color of feminism, queer, punk, cyberpunk, rebellion, love, playfulness, and utopia.

Panzer, on the other hand, is a tank, a war machine, with all the dystopic connotations. War Machines are all creative beings that struggle against systems that serve to close, exploit, restrict, and destroy life and possibilities in a Deleuzian understanding. I am an independent artist who, through transforming herself into a “Pink War Machine,” seeks her multiple pursuits, passions, dreams, resistance, and community and tries to understand her place in this century.

 

As a multidisciplinary artist, my endeavors and works span several areas. These are urban studies, underground movements, science fiction, queer and feminist studies, activism, experimental music and art. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Studies at Kadir Has University. By analyzing recent science fiction stories that use Istanbul as a narrative space, I investigate how the city shapes our imagination and our vision of the future.  I act with the belief of building bridges between the “upper” and “lower” worlds by mixing the causes into areas and dancing in academia, everyday life of the city, nightlife, flea markets and art galleries. Currently based in Istanbul, I continue to work in various parts of the world and in many imaginary spaces.
