kitty the bitchy

A woman’s struggle with social identities in her lands, her perspective on power relations, her questioning of her own path and the products of a solo freedom struggle. Understanding the importance of reading, seeing, spreading and communicating the story in solidarity, I wanted Kitty the Bitchy, which I hoped to be a community, to come out with a fanzine at the beginning.
The inspiration for the first issue is the fairy tale “Red Shoes” and its analysis in the book
“Women Running with the Wolves”. This narrative, which problematized the loss and discovery of creativity, internal and external factors that injured one’s own free nature, constituted the first pillar of solidarity. Motivated to spread this, I wanted to visualize the tale as a picture storybook read by young and adult women themselves. Kitty the Bitchy: Red Shoes met its audience for the first time this year, at Istanbul Comics And Art Festival.
